MARSTEK V500

MARSTEK V500 on a bamboo veranda on a rainy afternoon, powering an electric fan and a laptop
V500: Waterproof 500 W / 2 kWh Solar Generator with 500 W PV Input · Silvera Solar Power (AI-generated scene, official product design)

What it is: the V500 is a compact, IP65 waterproof, fanless solar generator with a 2,009 Wh LiFePO4 battery and a single 500 W pure-sine-wave AC outlet (230 V / 50 Hz per the datasheet and manual). It charges from a solar panel (MC4, 500 W max), from the grid (500 W), or from both together (750 W total), and can pass grid power straight through to the load (bypass).

Who it's for: households that want a plug-and-play brownout backup for small essential loads (router, lights, fans, phone charging, a small TV) without an electrician, and users who want something weatherproof and silent for outdoor use.

Best for

  • Essential-load brownout backup up to 500 W continuous: Wi-Fi router, LED lights, electric fan, phone and laptop charging.
  • Solar-only charging where there is no grid, or grid + solar charging for the fastest refill (750 W combined).
  • Outdoor or damp locations: IP65, natural cooling, rated to 4,000 m altitude.
  • Customers who want a silent unit (fanless).

Not for: running loads above 500 W rated (aircon, rice cooker, flat iron, water pump). The V500 will stop and enter protection. For those, see the M1200, M2200 or V6000.

Key features

From the V500 datasheet and manual:

  • 500 W pure sine wave output, 1,000 W peak; one universal socket.
  • Flexible charging (manual §4.2):
    • AC IN only: 500 W.
    • PV only: depends on the solar panel (500 W max).
    • Dual (AC + PV): 750 W total. If PV is strong, PV is capped at 500 W and AC IN supplies 250 W. If PV is under 500 W, AC IN rises to keep the total at 750 W.
  • Simultaneous charging and discharging (manual §4.4):
    • AC IN + load: full bypass, so grid power supplies the load.
    • PV + load: PV supplies the load and the battery covers any shortfall.
    • AC IN + PV + load: grid supplies the load while PV charges the battery.
  • Wide input voltage range of 184–276 V for unstable grids.
  • 10,000+ cycles to 80% DOD (datasheet; see conflict note below).
  • MARSTEK app over Bluetooth or Wi-Fi (Android 6.0+, iOS 12.0+).
  • Battery protection: overcharge, over-discharge, overcurrent, over-temperature, short-circuit and overvoltage protection (manual §1.3).
  • Front LED panel: AC IN, AC OUT, 4-bar battery level, WARN (red on fault), PV, WIFI/BT.

The V500 documents only list 230 V / 50 Hz. The Philippine grid is 220 V / 60 Hz. 220 V is inside the stated 184–276 V input range, but no source confirms 60 Hz operation or a 220 V / 60 Hz output setting. Confirm with Silvera Solar Power / MARSTEK before promising this to a customer.

Installation & safety

The V500 is plug-and-play (no fixed wiring), but the manual still sets firm rules:

Do not overload

Do not power loads above 500 W rated. Overloading stops the V500 and puts it into protection. Exceeding the rated output may cause fire or injury.

  • Use: connect only officially certified electrical or electronic devices; use only MARSTEK-recommended or supplied accessories; unplug by the plug, not the cord.
  • Placement: dry, well-ventilated area away from liquids; keep vents and cooling parts unobstructed; never near open flames, heaters or flammable or explosive materials. Do not expose to temperatures above 130 °C.
  • Do not open: high voltage inside. Disassembly or repair only by qualified personnel. Wait 5 minutes after power-off before maintenance.
  • Handling: carry by the handles, upright. Do not drop from above 0.5 m; support it on stairs.
  • Power off: disconnect AC IN, PV+ and PV- first, then press and hold ON/OFF until the green ring turns off.
  • Storage: -20 to 60 °C, ≤95% RH, indoors, upright, at 50–60% SOC; top up every 1–2 months. Before reuse after long storage, charge to above 80% and check for heat or noise.
  • Routine check: inspect at least once every six months.
  • Children: keep out of reach; close adult supervision required.
  • Warranty: the manual says the period is "subject to the warranty card enclosed with the product". Confirm the local term with Silvera Solar Power.
