VENUS E 3.0 troubleshooting and error codes
This page reproduces the troubleshooting section (4.2) of the MARSTEK VENUS-E user manual, Philippine edition (MST-BIE5-2500). A fault shows as a red Warn/Error LED on the front panel. The code number appears in the MARSTEK app.
Users must not open or repair the unit. The manual says the VENUS-E "should only be serviced by authorized personnel" and that you should unplug the device from the socket before any maintenance or repair. If anything looks burnt, swollen, smells or is hot to the touch, stop using it and call Silvera Solar Power.
General procedure (from the manual)
- Check all electrical connections and the battery status.
- Restart the system using the proper power-cycling procedure (On/Off button).
- Look up known issues in the user manual or FAQ.
- If the problem continues, contact customer support with:
- full device specifications (model and serial number from the label);
- a detailed description of the fault;
- any error codes or indicator states you saw.
The manual says that if needed, the support team will explain how to send the device for repair and provide a solution within 7 business days. It also says warranty coverage includes free repair or replacement; otherwise, a repair quote will be provided. Check current local warranty terms with Silvera Solar Power.
Error-code table
| Code | Alarm range | Alarm status | Suggested treatment (manual wording, lightly condensed) |
|---|---|---|---|
| 400 | Inverter side | Overheat protection | 1. Check the ventilation where the unit is installed and whether the ambient temperature is above the allowed maximum. 2. If ventilation is poor or the temperature is too high, improve ventilation and heat dissipation. 3. If still unsolved, contact the technical team. |
| 401 | Inverter side | Self-test failed | 1. Try restarting. 2. If still unsolved, contact the technical team. |
| 402 | Inverter side | EEPROM read and write exception | 1. Try restarting. 2. If still unsolved, contact the technical team. |
| 405 | Inverter side | Off-grid output over-power protection | 1. Instantaneous power on the off-grid (BACKUP) side is too high, so reduce the off-grid power consumption. 2. If it happens even at low loads, contact the technical team. |
| 410–430 | Inverter side | Abnormality within the device | 1. Wait half a minute for the inverter to return to normal. 2. If still unsolved, try restarting or contact the technical team. |
| 431 | BAT side | Unable to communicate with BMS | 1. May be caused by low battery voltage. Connect to reactivate within 5 minutes. The issue disappears after activation. 2. If still unsolved, contact the technical team. |
| 432 | BAT side | Battery overvoltage | If unsolved, contact the technical team. |
| 433 | BAT side | Battery overcurrent | If unsolved, contact the technical team. |
| 434 | BAT side | Battery undervoltage | 1. Make sure the grid-connected socket is properly connected. 2. If still unsolved, contact the technical team. |
| 440/441 | Grid side | Grid overvoltage | 1. Grid fluctuations and loose connections may trigger this fault. 2. Check that the grid is properly connected and wait for it to return to normal. |
| 442 | Grid side | Grid undervoltage | 1. Grid fluctuations and loose lines may trigger this fault. 2. Check the grid connection and wait for the grid to return to normal. |
| 443 | Grid side | Grid overfrequency | 1. Grid fluctuations and loose lines may trigger this fault. 2. Check the grid connection and wait for the grid to return to normal. |
| 444 | Grid side | Grid underfrequency | 1. Grid fluctuations and loose lines may trigger this fault. 2. Check the grid connection and wait for the grid to return to normal. |
| 445 | Grid side | Grid-connected overcurrent | 1. Check that the grid is properly connected. If so, it returns to normal within one minute. 2. Restart the inverter. 3. If still unsolved, contact the technical team. |
| 446 | Grid side | Grid fluctuations | 1. Grid fluctuations and loose lines may trigger this fault. 2. Check the grid connection and wait for the grid to return to normal. |
| 447 | Inverter side | DCI protection / output DC component protection | 1. Grid fluctuations and loose lines may trigger this fault. 2. Check the grid connection and wait for the grid to return to normal. |
| 448 | Inverter side | DCV protection / grid voltage direct component protection | 1. Grid fluctuations and loose lines may trigger this fault. 2. Check the grid connection and wait for the grid to return to normal. |
| 530/558 | — | Over temperature limit | 1. Check ventilation and whether the ambient temperature is above the allowed range. 2. Improve ventilation and heat dissipation if needed. 3. If still unsolved, contact the technical team. |
| 559 | — | Low temperature limit | 1. Check that the ambient temperature meets the requirements. 2. If the temperature is normal but the issue remains, contact the technical team. |
| 560 | — | Low battery | 1. May be caused by low battery power, so connect the grid. 2. If still unsolved, contact the technical team. |
| 5C0 | — | Bluetooth status is abnormal | 1. Check that the correct device and app are being connected. The issue resolves after a while. 2. If still unsolved, contact the technical team. |
| 5C1 | — | OTA update failed | 1. The issue is solved by upgrading again. 2. If still unsolved, contact the technical team. |
| 5C2/5C3/5C4 | — | Abnormal Wi-Fi signal | 1. Check that the Wi-Fi connection between the device and the home network is stable. 2. If still unsolved, contact the technical team. |
| 5C8–5CB | — | Network abnormal | 1. Check the home network. The issue can happen occasionally from network fluctuations and clears itself after a while. 2. If still unsolved, contact the technical team. |
| 5D2 | — | CT connection abnormality | 1. Check that the CT is properly connected to the home network and that the home network is stable. 2. If still unsolved, contact the technical team. |
The Drive text extraction of the manual breaks up the table layout. Codes 400–448 come out with the alarm-status labels listed separately from the code numbers. This page matches them in the order they appear, which also fits the suggested treatments (e.g. 445 "grid-connected overcurrent" → "returns to normal within one minute"). The alarm range is blank (—) for codes 530 and up because the extraction does not show one. Before quoting a specific code to a customer as definitive, check it against the PDF in Drive.
Common situations in Philippine homes
These map the manual's codes to everyday situations. They are explanations, not extra manual instructions.
| What the customer sees | Likely codes | What to do first |
|---|---|---|
| Fault during or right after a brownout or voltage dip | 440–446, 447/448 | Per the manual, grid fluctuations or loose connections can cause these. Wait for the grid to stabilise and check that the Grid plug is fully seated. |
| Too many appliances on BACKUP during a brownout | 405 | Unplug some loads from the BACKUP side. The manual lists BACKUP output at 2.5 kVA rated (3.5 kVA for 10 s). |
| Unit in a hot, enclosed spot | 400, 530/558 | Improve ventilation and keep the required clearances (see the installation guide). |
| App can't reach the unit | 5C0, 5C2–5C4, 5C8–5CB | Check Bluetooth pairing, Wi-Fi strength and the home router. |
| Self-Consumption not working | 5D2 | Check that the CT is installed and online (see app and modes). |
| Battery flat after a long outage | 431, 434, 560 | Reconnect the grid so the battery can recharge or reactivate. |
